The fragrant Alahe'e is a plant indigenous to Hawaii Island. I was first introduced to this beautiful plant on a tour of the the native plants at 'Imiloa Center in Hilo. The sun had just come out from behind the clouds and a breeze tossed the branches and fragrant flowers up and down. I caught sight of a bee, attracted by the scent, but having to work hard to grasp and hold onto the flowers. I took hundreds of pictures. This is the resulting painting.
